Steven is Head of Credit Union Services at Alexander Sloan. As a result, he is responsible for developing our Credit Union work programmes and manuals. It is a sector that he has a great interest in and that he is a strong advocate for. He has been working with Credit Unions for the last 20 years providing a variety of services. As well as being a qualified Chartered Accountant he holds the ‘Certificate in Credit Union Principles and Practice’ qualification from the Chartered Bankers Institute. He also has recently completed the EU GDPR Foundation qualification.
Steven’s knowledge of the sector can be demonstrated by the fact that he has provided training courses on Credit Unions auditing and accounting on behalf of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS). He also has provided training on FRS 102 for ABCUL at two of their annual conferences. He has also reviewed technical and research papers on Credit Unions on behalf of ICAS.Â
In addition, to his work with Credit Unions Steven is the firm’s Technical Partner and heads the Quality Control team at Alexander Sloan. This is the group within the firm that oversees the firm’s quality control procedures and manuals. Steven was previously a member of the Accounting Standards Committee and the Investigation Committee at ICAS.Â
